The sound of drills is fading from South Korea's home appliance market.
"No-drill" products that enhance daily convenience without damaging walls or floors have emerged as a defining trend in residential living, driven by consumers seeking to minimize installation hassles and restoration costs when moving.
According to lifestyle app Ohouse, no-drill related keywords ranked in the top 1% of searches in 2025.

The no-drill trend, which began with interior items such as curtains and shelves, is now rapidly expanding across appliance categories requiring installation, including dishwashers and televisions. Appliance makers are responding by rolling out products and services designed to reduce installation burdens for consumers with high residential mobility.
Location-Free No-Drill Installation
Interest in clothing care appliances typically rises in spring as increased outdoor activities expose garments to fine dust, harmful bacteria, and dust mites—common triggers for allergy symptoms.

The Minix Mini Dryer PRO+ features a no-drill design that operates simply by plugging in, requiring no separate installation work. The 3.5-kilogram capacity unit incorporates sterilization, deodorization, and dust removal functions with a triple-filter system, while its low-temperature drying method minimizes fabric damage. Hot-air sterilization helps manage pollen and dust mites, and the product includes a multi-sterilization drying rack for hard-to-wash items such as shoes, hats, and masks.
Countertop Models Replace Built-Ins
Dishwashers—dubbed one of the "three household helpers" alongside dryers and robot vacuums—have also joined the no-drill movement. The traditional built-in market structure has posed entry barriers for single-person households and renters due to installation and relocation costs.
The Minix Mini Dishwasher PRO is a countertop model that sits on the sink counter, eliminating the need for water supply or drainage work. Compact as a microwave oven, it features a two-tier tray structure for improved space efficiency and offers three-in-one functionality covering washing, sterilization, and hot-air drying. A 55-degree safe-dry function reduces water spots after washing, and the drying and sterilization features can be used independently after hand-washing dishes.
Security Appliances Go Drill-Free with Smart Door Solutions
No-drill products are also proliferating in the security appliance segment. Aqara Life's no-drill smart door lock L100 features a replaceable structure that does not damage doors, easing concerns for renters. The product maintains smart functions of conventional models while enhancing installation convenience, with support for Apple Home and third-party platform integration.
Tapo's no-drill mini smart doorbell D205 can likewise be installed without wiring work. It offers 160-degree ultra-wide-angle recording and 2K resolution video, with USB-C connectivity enabling portable battery use.
