A South Korean national gymnastics team member has been referred to prosecutors on charges of repeatedly sending sexually harassing messages to a teenage middle school girl.
Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on the 9th that it had referred the 19-year-old gymnast, identified only as "A," to prosecutors without detention on charges including violation of the Child Welfare Act.
A is accused of sending multiple messages containing sexually humiliating content to a middle school girl, identified as "B," in April last year.
According to the investigation, he sent messages to B suggesting they "video call while she was bathing." Seoul Seongdong Police Station, which received the initial complaint, transferred the case to Bukbu Police Station, which has jurisdiction over A's residence. Bukbu Police Station conducted the investigation over approximately four months.
