For those dreaming of the perfect Lunar New Year trip with their pets, Suncheon Drama Film Set is emerging as an ideal destination.
Suncheon City announced on January 9 that it will operate special Lunar New Year programs from January 14 to 18, designed for visitors of all ages and their companion animals at the drama film set.
The event will offer visitors a unique holiday experience, combining rich performances and traditional games with pet-friendly activities tailored to recent trends, all set against the distinctive atmosphere of the film set that vividly recreates the 1960s through 1980s.
Programs for "pet families"—travelers who vacation with their pets—have been significantly expanded this year. A unique experience allows visitors and their dogs to dress in retro-style school uniforms and explore the film set's alleyways together.
A DIY experience zone will also operate on-site, where visitors can create accessories for their pets.
Visitors participating in social media events will receive professional black-and-white photo sessions with their dogs and specially curated "pet welcome kits," designed to create memorable moments for pet-owning families.
Various performances and activities will add to the festive atmosphere throughout the holiday period.
Sunyang Theater will host musical troupe performances evoking 1970s and 1980s nostalgia, along with live band concerts. Traditional games including rubber band jumping, large-scale yut board games, and gonggi (Korean jacks) will operate throughout the venue, offering nostalgic experiences for parents and new entertainment for children.
A sledding experience utilizing the hillside slopes of the "moon village" area is expected to create unforgettable winter memories for young visitors.
A food market will offer warm fish cakes, roasted sweet potatoes, dalgona (Korean honeycomb candy), and jjeondeugi (puffed rice snacks), satisfying all five senses of visitors.
"For this Lunar New Year holiday, we have prepared a festival where everyone can be the main character—from parents to children and family pets," said Yang Hyo-jeong, Director of Culture and Tourism at Suncheon City. "We hope entire families will spend a warm and happy Lunar New Year at our drama film set, which feels like traveling back in time."
