Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young sent a congratulatory message to director Maggie Kang, whose work won the Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song awards at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, the ministry said Wednesday.
"This award recognizes the artistic merit and creativity of an animation dealing with K-pop and Korean culture on the world stage, representing a meaningful achievement that demonstrates the international influence of Korean popular culture," Minister Choi said.
"Director Maggie Kang's accomplishment shows that diverse cultures can exchange and resonate with each other, conveying the possibility of communication that transcends cultural boundaries to people around the world," he added.

The minister also expressed his support, saying, "I look forward to and will continue to support the director's creative work on the world stage."
According to the ministry, the Golden Globe Awards is a major international film and television awards ceremony held annually in the United States. The ceremony honors both film and television categories, evaluating artistic merit and industry impact simultaneously. The animation category operates as an independent major category, giving it international prestige for recognizing animation as a distinct film art form.
This award is seen as demonstrating the international influence and potential expansion of Korean popular culture, as an animation centered on the Korean cultural element of K-pop has gained recognition on the global mainstream cultural stage.
