Incheon International Airport Corp. said Tuesday it earned the highest grade in the National Intelligence Service's 2025 cybersecurity assessment for government and public institutions.
The evaluation, conducted by the National Intelligence Service (NIS), covered 152 central government agencies, local governments and public institutions across Korea. The assessment evaluated each organization's administrative, technical and crisis response capabilities across 41 categories and 100 detailed items.
The airport operator received the top rating for its security monitoring system, which operates around the clock year-round, and its real-time security response capabilities.
As the operator of Incheon Airport, Korea's gateway airport and a national security facility, the corporation has built a trusted cybersecurity environment through regular cyber attack response drills and intensive inspections of key information and communication infrastructure, the company said.
In 2023, the corporation elevated its dedicated information security unit, the Cyber Security Center, from a team-level to a department-level organization. Last year, it established a new Cyber Security Team, strengthening its organizational capacity to respond effectively to domestic and international cyber incidents.
"Building on this top rating, we will further strengthen Incheon Airport's cybersecurity capabilities in line with the AI transformation era by introducing AI-based security monitoring systems and national network security frameworks," said Lee Hak-jae, CEO of Incheon International Airport Corp.
Meanwhile, daily passenger traffic at Incheon Airport reached 239,530 on January 4, setting a new record since the airport opened in March 2001.
