Trump to Unify US AI Regulations, Easing Burden on Companies

US President Donald Trump announced plans to unify artificial intelligence regulations across the United States. The move to consolidate state-by-state rules at the federal level is seen as an effort to reduce regulatory burdens on companies and maintain America's competitive edge in AI.
"To continue to lead in AI, there must be only one set of rules," Trump said on Truth Social on Wednesday. "This week I will issue a 'One Rule' executive order."
"Right now, we're ahead of every country in this race, but that won't last long if 50 states are involved in (different) rules and approval processes," Trump said, adding that many of the 50 states are "bad actors." The comment pointed to some states applying stringent AI-related regulations.
"There must be no doubt on this issue. (Otherwise) AI will be destroyed at birth," Trump wrote. "Companies should not be expected to get 50 approvals every time they want to do something. That will never work."
