President Lee Pledges Special Rewards for Top-Performing Civil Servants

President Lee Jae-myung on Friday called on government ministries to "continue researching and reviewing solutions to improve working conditions in the public sector" during a cabinet meeting.

"Creating policies for the people and implementing them effectively in the field is impossible without the passion and responsibility of each and every public servant," Lee said at the cabinet meeting held at the Government Complex Sejong.

"Unfortunately, it is also true that the public sector currently faces many difficulties," he added. "Administrative demands are growing larger and more complex, but improvements in compensation have not kept pace."

The president noted that "Korea has developed to where it is today because of public servants who faithfully and loyally fulfill their roles in the field, and we can also look forward to an even more developed tomorrow."

"We will provide special rewards for the exceptional dedication and achievements of public servants," Lee emphasized.

He urged each ministry to "swiftly pursue follow-up measures to ensure that outstanding civil servants who deliver excellent results receive appropriately exceptional compensation."
