Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Launches Korea's First Local Council AI Chatbot

The Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly launched "Sowon AI," the first generative artificial intelligence chatbot service among local councils in Korea, on Wednesday.
According to the provincial assembly, Sowon AI combines AI technology with the assembly's mascot "Sowon" to help website visitors search for and inquire about assembly-related information more easily.
By clicking the chatbot icon at the bottom of the assembly's homepage, users can receive answers about overall assembly operations, organization, and usage guidelines, as well as access paths to related menus within the website.
The AI chatbot is the first innovation service from the AI Legislative Innovation Team under the newly established Spatial Information Division in the second half of this year. The assembly said it was completed through efficient design based on existing systems. The assembly expects the chatbot to improve response efficiency to various civil inquiries by incorporating a response system for repetitive questions and analyzing feedback.
"Through the AI chatbot being introduced to a local council homepage for the first time, any resident will be able to access assembly information easily and conveniently," Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Chairman Kim Jin-kyung said. "We will continue to get closer to residents through user-centered AI legislative innovation."
