PSG's Lee Kang-in Records Third Assist of Season in Narrow Win Over Metz

Paris Saint-Germain secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over bottom-placed FC Metz in Ligue 1, with South Korea international midfielder Lee Kang-in contributing his third assist of the season.

PSG defeated Metz at Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien in Metz, France, in their 16th round away match of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season on Tuesday.

The victory lifted PSG's points tally to 36, moving them to the top of the league ahead of RC Lens (34 points), who have yet to play their 16th round fixture. Metz remained at the bottom of the 18-team league with 11 points.

Lee formed a front three alongside Ibrahim Mbaye and Gonçalo Ramos in PSG's 4-3-3 formation, playing the full 90 minutes and setting up the opening goal to contribute to PSG's win.

While Lee was on the bench for the UEFA Champions League league phase matchday six away fixture against Athletic Club (Spain) on December 11, which ended in a goalless draw, he has now started five consecutive domestic league matches.

Lee attempted three shots (one on target) and completed three key passes, energizing PSG's attack throughout the match. His moment of brilliance came in the 31st minute with the score at 0-0, when his exquisite left-footed cross gave PSG the lead.

From a short corner on the right side, Lee received the ball back from Quentin N'Zantou and whipped in a curling left-footed cross from the right side of the penalty area. Ramos met it with a header in front of goal to break the deadlock.

This was Lee's second league assist of the season and third in all competitions, following his match-winning assist in PSG's 3-2 away victory against Olympique Lyon in the 12th round on November 10.

PSG extended their lead in the 39th minute when Mbaye cut inside from the left of the penalty area and delivered a low pass, which N'Zantou converted by sliding in at the near post with his right foot. However, Metz pulled one back in the 42nd minute through Jesse Deminguet, who struck with his left foot from the edge of the penalty arc, sending PSG into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

Lee continued his sharp distribution in the second half, but PSG struggled to finish their chances until they finally extended their advantage in the 63rd minute.

After a Metz shot was blocked by the defensive wall, Mbaye collected the loose ball and launched a perfect counterattack. Désiré Doué carried the ball alone from near the halfway line and, facing the goalkeeper one-on-one, slotted a right-footed shot into the corner from the edge of the penalty arc.

PSG missed a chance to pull further ahead in the 71st minute when Mbaye's shot struck the post. Metz's Giorgi Tsitaishvili scored in the 81st minute to make it 3-2, but PSG held on to protect their lead until the final whistle.
