HD Hyundai Chairman Surprises Employees with Pork at Kimchi-Making Event

Chung Ki-sun, chairman of HD Hyundai, drew attention by appearing before employees with boiled pork during a kimchi-making volunteer event. The chairman, born in 1982, is being praised for strengthening his "young leadership" style as a business leader in his 40s.

According to HD Hyundai on January 12, the company held a "Kimchi Sharing Volunteer Event" on December 5 at the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center in Pangyo, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. A total of 32 participants joined this year's event, including employees selected through a lottery and their family members such as grandmothers, parents, spouses, and children. They learned a "sweet potato kimchi" recipe and kimchi-making techniques from chef Lee Mi-young, known as the "School Lunch Master" from her appearance on the Netflix show "Culinary Class Wars."

According to photos released, Chairman Chung made a surprise appearance after the kimchi-making session, carrying boiled pork he had prepared for the employees. Surprised employees clapped their hands and took photos of the chairman. Chung has regularly participated in company events and emphasized communication with employees. He reportedly shared a meal with employees and exchanged greetings on this day as well.

HD Hyundai delivered a total of 7,000 kilograms of kimchi, including the kimchi made at the event, to children's welfare facilities nationwide and neighbors in the Seongnam area. Additionally, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment held their own "Kimchi Sharing with Love" events, distributing 6,000 boxes and 2,400 boxes of kimchi respectively to neighbors in welfare blind spots.
