Samsung Wallet Adds Seoul Climate Card, Launches Galaxy Watch Transit App

Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) announced Wednesday that it has added the "Climate Card" service to Samsung Wallet's transit card feature, allowing Galaxy smartphone users to issue and use the Seoul metropolitan transit pass through the mobile wallet.

The Climate Card is an integrated transit pass that allows unlimited use of public transportation for a set period after a single fare charge, offering significant savings for commuters and students with regular travel patterns. Seoul Metropolitan Government introduced the Climate Card in 2024 to increase public transit usage, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance transportation welfare for citizens.

Samsung Electronics is also expanding Samsung Wallet's T-money transit card support. In addition to the existing USIM method, the company now supports smartphones activated through eSIM, enabling users to choose a transit card that best fits their needs.

The Samsung Wallet transit card service has been added not only to Galaxy smartphones but also to Galaxy Watch. By installing the Samsung Wallet transit card app for Galaxy Watch, users can use the transit card with just their watch, without needing a smartphone. Samsung Wallet users will now be able to freely choose the optimal transit card service between their smartphone and watch depending on the situation.

"Samsung Wallet focuses on connecting various related services so that customers can choose from a wide range of transit cards tailored to their individual needs, while providing the best customer experience," said Chae Won-chul, Vice President and Head of Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics. "Starting with being the first to support the Climate Card, we will continue to expand our services by offering various options based on T-money and Eazy, so that users can use public transportation more conveniently and efficiently."
