Samsumssam Expands Beyond Tax Services Into Telecom, Funeral Plans

Jobis & Villains announced Friday it is accelerating its transformation into a "life-integrated platform," expanding partnerships beyond tax services into insurance, telecommunications, and funeral services.

The company recently acquired Microprotect, an insurtech firm specializing in private health insurance, and BLQ, which provides mobile phone leasing, used phone buyback, and refund services for delivery riders. Jobis & Villains is also expanding partnerships in telecommunications and funeral services, aiming to help customers conveniently recover hidden money from taxes and medical expenses while reducing monthly fixed costs to provide benefits across their entire life cycle.

Samsumssam, the company's flagship service, has strengthened its partnership services to help customers maximize benefits across all telecommunications areas—from phone purchases to rate plan selection and used phone refunds—which account for a significant portion of household spending.

To achieve this, the company is partnering with Moyo, a mobile brokerage platform. The service transparently discloses carrier subsidies and additional retailer incentives, allowing customers to compare actual purchase prices for all iPhone and Galaxy models at a glance. Customers can purchase at the lowest price without mandatory device return programs or forced add-on service subscriptions.

Samsumssam has partnered with major budget carrier brands including T Plus, Mona, and U+ Umobile to recommend optimal rate plans based on individual data usage patterns. Used phones can be quickly sold and refunded through BLQ, which Jobis & Villains recently acquired. The service collects used phones via delivery, assesses market value, and deposits payment within one day.

Samsumssam has also expanded its partnership ecosystem to funeral services, enhancing "full life cycle" benefits. The 100-won funeral plan, launched with funeral service specialist Goi Funeral Research Institute, attracted approximately 800 subscribers on its first day. For just 100 won per month, customers can lock in current prices for future funeral services regardless of inflation, reducing initial financial burden.

"Following tax and medical expense refunds, we will become a life-integrated partner covering customers' entire life cycle, including telecommunications and funeral services," said Kim Beom-seob, CEO of Jobis & Villains.
