Dongjak District Invites Go Master Lee Sedol for AI-Era Lecture

Seoul's Dongjak District will host a special lecture by Lee Sedol, the legendary Go player and special professor at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), at 9:30 a.m. on January 19 at the district office's fourth-floor auditorium.
The lecture was organized to highlight the importance of mathematical thinking in an era of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence. Lee gained worldwide attention as the only human to defeat AlphaGo, the AI Go program developed by Google DeepMind. Since retiring from professional Go in 2019, he has continued his activities through lectures, broadcasting, and writing.
Lee will speak on the topic "Strategic Thinking in the AI Era: The Next Move That Mathematics Teaches Us." Drawing from his own experience, he will discuss the attitudes and survival strategies humans need in the age of artificial intelligence. The lecture is expected to offer insights into coexisting with AI, introducing the meaning of "the next move" based on human creativity and mathematical thinking.
