Hankook Tire Installs Water Pumps in Indonesian Village Facing Water Shortage

Hankook Tire & Technology (161390.KS) announced on January 7 that it completed its water pump installation project and held a donation ceremony on January 5 (local time) in Naga Cipta village, located in the Serangbaru area of Bekasi Regency, east of Jakarta, Indonesia.

Under the project, which began last year, Hankook Tire installed state-of-the-art water pump facilities and storage tanks in the village. The initiative was carried out to provide clean and safe water resources reliably to the Bekasi community, where Hankook Tire's Indonesian factory is located.

The Bekasi region experiences severe droughts and water shortages during the dry season due to the effects of El Niño. Approximately 300 households, including employees of Hankook Tire's Indonesian factory, reside in Naga Cipta village, with about 50 households collecting rainwater for daily use.

Hankook Tire expects the water infrastructure installation to significantly improve residents' quality of life by reducing the economic burden of purchasing water for daily use and improving local living conditions in the area with inadequate infrastructure.

In a previous project conducted in Pasir Anji village in Bekasi Regency in August last year, Hankook Tire supplied approximately 2.8 million liters of clean water to around 1,100 residents from some 230 households as of August.

"We maintain close communication with local communities around the world where we have global production bases, including Indonesia, the United States, Hungary, and China," a Hankook Tire official said. "We will continue to actively fulfill our corporate social responsibility while realizing sustainable future value together."
