Busan Library Expands Online Archive With 1,868 Historical Records

Busan Library announced Monday that it will release 1,868 newly collected and organized historical records about Busan through its digital archive "Memory of Busan."

"Memory of Busan" is a platform that preserves and shares important records and cultural heritage materials reflecting Busan's identity. With this addition, the archive now offers a total of 5,228 records. The newly released materials include 748 publications, 651 photographs, 25 ancient documents, 21 administrative documents, 10 videos, and 3 maps.

The collection includes Busan-related film photographs donated by the late Hong Young-chul, former director of the Korean Film Archive Research Institute, as well as photographs of villages, streets, and industrial landscapes by photographers Moon Jin-woo and the late Hwang Sung-jun. The archive also features "History of Korean Railways Volume 1," a rare document from Busan Library's collection, along with oral history recordings documenting local history and daily life.
