Professor Eom Ki-hong Elected 2027 President of Korean Political Science Association

Eom Ki-hong, a professor of political science and diplomacy at Kyungpook National University, was elected president of the Korean Political Science Association for 2027, the association announced Wednesday.
"In an era of deepening polarization across politics, economy, and regions, political science must offer solutions to society," Eom said. "I will make the association a core platform for practicing the politics of coexistence."
Eom becomes the first scholar from a university in the southern region to lead the Korean Political Science Association.
"I believe this election reflects members' solemn demand that Korean political science must take another leap forward," Eom said. "I will actively respond to the call for responsible answers to politics in an era of polarization."
Eom graduated from Yonsei University's Department of Political Science and Diplomacy and earned his master's degree in political science from the same university's graduate school. He received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Kentucky. He served as a Fulbright scholar at UC Berkeley's Department of Political Science and as a visiting researcher at the Harvard-Yenching Institute. He previously served as vice president of the Korean Political Science Association and president of the Korean Association of Party Studies.
