Gyeonggi Arts Center Partners with 16 Regional Venues to Boost Performing Arts

Gyeonggi Arts Center has joined forces with major performance venues and cultural foundations across Gyeonggi Province to revitalize the performing arts sector.

Kim Sang-hoe, CEO of Gyeonggi Arts Center, signed a memorandum of understanding Wednesday at the center's small theater during the "2025 G-ARTS Preview Conference," with representatives from 16 performance venues and cultural foundations from cities including Goyang, Namyangju, Suwon, Bucheon, Uijeongbu, and Paju in attendance.

The agreement focuses on joint project planning between institutions, expanding distribution of quality content, and establishing and strengthening mutual exchange and cooperation systems.

The event was designed to build a network foundation among performance venues in Gyeonggi Province and share the direction of the "G-ARTS" brand, which will be fully launched next year. The conference featured a forum on transforming the provincial performing arts ecosystem alongside various performances.

Kim announced plans to discover and promote outstanding performing arts content in Gyeonggi Province through initiatives such as the "G-ARTS Awards" and "Gyeonggi Performing Arts Market" starting in 2026, while serving as a platform connecting creators with performance venues.

"Despite its great potential, the Gyeonggi performing arts community has struggled to connect closely due to the lack of a distribution platform," Kim said. "We will work together to address the support gap between central and local governments and the imbalance between creation and distribution."

"G-ARTS will be built by performance venues, creators, and both provincial and municipal governments, through everyone's participation and cooperation," Kim added. "Through this, we will open a new chapter for performing arts in Gyeonggi Province."
