KT (030200.KS) said on the 6th that it has expanded its artificial intelligence (AI)-based real-time spam blocking service to all customers, including users of KT's MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) service.
AI spam blocking is a service that detects and blocks new and modified spam in real time. KT developed the technology in-house to respond to increasingly sophisticated spam methods, such as the recent use of special characters.
The service was piloted in January this year, targeting 800,000 customers who set the smart blocking function to "High" in the "KT Spam Block" application. From the 29th of last month, the coverage of the existing free "(Peace of Mind) Spam Blocking Service" was expanded to all customers.
According to KT, the false blocking rate recorded 0.003% from the 29th of last month to the 3rd of this month. No related customer inquiries (VOCs) were reported. By blocking spam that had previously gone undetected, the total number of spam blocks increased by 3.5%.
KT also plans to launch a "Spam Blocking Real-Time Notification Service" within this month, which will notify customers of spam blocking records in real time. Choi Se-jun, an executive at KT, said, "The AI spam blocking function was developed to protect customers in real time from various spam and digital crimes." He added, "We will continue to update the service to enhance customer trust, and by advancing AI-based detection technology, we will build a prevention-focused customer protection system."
