Pearl Abyss's (263750.KQ) open-world action-adventure game "Crimson Desert" recorded the highest Steam sales among new intellectual properties (IPs) released this year.
According to a report by global market research firm Alinea Analytics on the 27th, Crimson Desert has generated more than $190 million (about 280 billion won) in sales on Steam since its release last March.
That marks the third-highest sales figure among games launched on Steam this year, following "Forza Horizon 6" and "Biohazard Requiem." Crimson Desert is the only new IP among the top-selling titles. Noting that most of the top-ranked games are sequels to existing franchises, Alinea Analytics said, "Crimson Desert's achievement as a new IP carries even greater significance."
Notably, Crimson Desert has maintained its full retail price since launch, without applying any discounts or promotions.
Crimson Desert sold 2 million copies within a day of release and 5 million copies in less than a month, going on to reach 6 million copies sold in 83 days. It is regarded as having proven its competitiveness in the global console market based on its proprietary game engine, the "BlackSpace Engine."
