Naver's agentic artificial intelligence (AI) search service, AI Tab, has surpassed 10 million users just 18 days after its official launch.
Naver said on the 15th that AI Tab recorded 10 million users on the afternoon of the 14th. AI Tab is a conversational AI search service newly added to Naver's integrated search screen. It began beta service in April this year for Naver Plus Membership subscribers and was rolled out to all users on the 26th of last month.
According to Naver, AI Tab's average daily number of queries increased sevenfold compared with the beta service, while the number of queries per user rose 1.7-fold. The share of multi-turn conversations, in which users continue with follow-up questions rather than stopping at a one-off query, also expanded. In addition, AI Tab shortened the time required from search to decision-making by up to 60 to 70 percent through personalized recommendations that draw on actual purchase data, shopping reviews, and various user-generated content (UGC).
Naver plans to continue upgrading AI Tab. Later on the 15th, the company will add a dialogue window on the bottom of its search result summary service, AI Briefing, that leads to AI Tab. Through this, users can check summary results in AI Briefing and then continue follow-up exploration in AI Tab.
Within this month, the company will also upgrade its image-based search experience by strengthening the integration among Smart Lens, AI Briefing, and AI Tab. When a user photographs a product with Smart Lens or uploads an image, they can check key information in AI Briefing and continue to follow-up questions and product purchases in AI Tab.
Next month, Naver will unveil a "listing search agent" linked to Naver Real Estate and an AI agent specialized for the Whale browser. On the Whale browser, users can run the agent from the sidebar to support overall web navigation, including webpage summaries and browsing history lookups. Within the year, the company also plans to introduce a health agent that provides personalized health information based on verified sources.
"We will offer a search experience differentiated from various conversational AI services at home and abroad," said Kim Kwang-hyun, Naver's Chief Data and Content Officer (CDO). "We will upgrade it into the most outstanding service in terms of reliability as well, and make it into an AI service that becomes indispensable to users' daily lives."
