Holiday Robotics, a humanoid robot development startup, said on the 13th that it has completed a Series A funding round worth 155 billion won.
The investment is the largest Series A round ever raised by a domestic startup. Existing investors Stonebridge Ventures, Atinum Investment, Intervest, and Springcamp participated in the round. New investors including IMM Investment, SL Investment, KB Investment, Bon Angels Venture Partners, Premier Partners, Ermes Investment, SJ Investment Partners, Dasung Ventures, Atinum Capital Partners, and Goodwater Capital joined. The Korea Development Bank and the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) also appeared on the list of investors.
Holiday Robotics is developing "Friday," a humanoid robot optimized for manufacturing sites. Friday is designed to work alongside humans in manufacturing environments with a high volume of repetitive tasks. It is being developed with the goal of becoming a humanoid robot with the economic viability to be deployed at actual industrial sites.
The company is preparing for mass production with the goal of commercializing Friday in the second half of this year. It plans to establish a system to produce 100 units annually this year and supply actual products to customers. It has also set a goal of securing production capacity of 1,000 units annually next year to expand humanoid adoption across the manufacturing industry.
The company plans to use the investment to advance its mass production system and increase its research and development workforce to more than 100 people. It also plans to build manufacturing infrastructure capable of producing more than 10,000 units annually. In the short term, it has set a goal of lowering the product price to around 100 million won through mass production.
"We will successfully achieve commercialization at manufacturing sites and prove the practical utility of humanoid robots," Holiday Robotics CEO Song Ki-young said.
