Kakao Mobility said Wednesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Renault Korea for cooperation on next-generation vehicle experience innovation.
The two companies plan to build a strategic partnership to innovate next-generation mobility experiences by integrating Kakao Mobility's high-definition (HD) maps, software, and in-car service expertise into Renault Korea's vehicle platform. The agreement aims to build a differentiated vehicle service infrastructure based on Kakao Mobility's mapping technology and software capabilities, and to jointly pursue comprehensive vehicle experience innovation.
Specifically, the two companies will jointly develop and verify HD map data and software to implement advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on Renault Korea's vehicle platform. In addition, they plan to explore together the enhancement of next-generation in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and connected car services linking mobility services and content such as navigation, parking, and charging, as well as various ways to provide differentiated user experiences in future mobility.
Earlier, the two companies presented a blueprint for their technology cooperation at Renault Korea's booth at "NextRise 2026," Asia's largest technology and startup expo held on the 17th of last month. They drew attention by exhibiting a "next-generation mobility concept car" that applied Kakao Mobility's various technologies and services to Renault Korea's "Grand Koleos."
Kakao Mobility plans to further strengthen technology alliances with domestic and overseas automakers, starting with this collaboration. In particular, it plans to organically integrate into vehicle platforms an ecosystem centered on the in-vehicle Kakao Navi and Car Owner services, spanning advanced location-based technology led by ADAS HD maps and software capabilities, along with parking, charging, and vehicle management. Through this, the company aims to solidify its technology and service leadership befitting the era of software-defined vehicles (SDV) and to establish itself as a key technology partner leading the paradigm shift in future mobility.
