Megazone Cloud, an artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud company, is partnering with Pasqal, a global leader in neutral-atom quantum computing, to promote wider adoption of quantum computing in Korea.
Megazone Cloud said Friday that it signed a "strategic business agreement for quantum computing business cooperation" on Tuesday at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul. Pasqal is a global leader that provides large-scale, practical quantum computing solutions for the industrial, scientific, and government sectors using neutral-atom technology and dedicated software, serving more than 25 customers and partners including LG Electronics and Aramco.
The two companies plan to integrate Pasqal's "full-stack neutral-atom QPU technology" and its quantum software development kit (QSDK) into the quantum cloud execution environment of Megazone Cloud's WAVE. WAVE is Megazone Cloud's integrated quantum service brand, which connects the entire process of quantum technology adoption—from education and consulting to quantum cloud, on-premises emulators, and industrial application—into a single offering, helping companies apply quantum computing to actual operations. Through this, Megazone Cloud plans to support domestic companies in accessing quantum workloads.
The companies will also identify industry-specific use cases. They will first pursue corporate seminars, technology workshops, and joint solution demonstrations targeting four industrial sectors: finance, logistics, bio, and manufacturing. In addition, they will jointly identify opportunities to supply and build on-premises quantum computers for domestic customers. As part of this, they will pursue the construction of on-premises QPUs at domestic research institutions and their connection to high-performance computing (HPC) centers. Through this, the two companies plan to strengthen Korea's classical-quantum hybrid computing capabilities and ecosystem.
"Korea is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, with cloud platforms—the foundation of quantum computing—widely deployed," said Roberto Mauro, head of Asia-Pacific at Pasqal. "Through this MOU with Megazone Cloud, Pasqal will enable Korean companies to apply neutral-atom quantum technology to actual operations in the cloud environments they trust."
Kim Dong-ho, Chief Quantum Officer (CQO) at Megazone Cloud, said, "For domestic companies to apply quantum computing to actual operations, reliable infrastructure and verified use cases must be in place."
