SK AX is stepping up efforts to expand the customer base for "X-Genetic Wire NPO," an AI agent-based infrastructure operation service. As the first commercial service under the new "X-Genetic Wire" brand, the company aims to build early references and establish the service in the market quickly.
According to industry sources Friday, about 40 companies currently use X-Genetic Wire NPO. Its scope is gradually expanding beyond SK Group affiliates to outside companies. Information technology (IT) firms, in particular, are showing strong interest, as they understand well how difficult the AI transformation (AX) of infrastructure operations can be.
The service aims to reduce response time and costs by having AI agents preemptively detect and resolve problems that arise during corporate IT operations. SK AX has developed it since last year and officially launched it in April this year.
Typically, failures and changes in corporate IT infrastructure occur regardless of day, night, or weekend. Operators and developers must be on standby at all times to respond. When a failure occurs, the person in charge analyzes the cause and scope of impact, drafts a change plan, and the in-house change management committee reviews and approves it for any omissions before action is taken. In other words, problem resolution takes considerable time because it must pass through human hands and meetings multiple times.
In contrast, X-Genetic Wire NPO assigns tasks by distinguishing between sections that agents will handle independently and sections where humans and agents will collaborate, among the duties once handled by people.
"Bottlenecks occur in the sections where employees report problems, where staff are summoned on holidays, and where the cause is identified," SK AX said. "Multiple agents carry out these processes on their behalf, allowing lead time to be cut by more than 50%."
Response staff are also reduced. Employees freed from repetitive and simple failure responses can focus on specialized tasks that require human judgment. "As we no longer spend time on simple, repetitive work, people can immerse themselves more in the specialized tasks they should be doing," said Ryu Dong-yoon, a developer on SK AX's cloud platform team.
SK AX plans to increase the number of AI agents deployed in X-Genetic Wire NPO to around 100. About 40 agents have been completed so far. The company aims to expand adoption into sectors such as finance and gaming this year to raise its proven reliability.
