Yuhan Corporation is pushing to become a global innovative pharmaceutical company as it marks its 100th anniversary.
Yuhan held a ceremony commemorating its 100th anniversary on Tuesday at Willow House, its former headquarters located in Daebang-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, the company said Wednesday. Yuhan is the 11th listed company in Korea to reach its 100th anniversary.
"Yuhan has been able to walk this 100-year path because of two unchanging values: 'Progress,' which continuously opens new paths, and 'Integrity,' which upholds principles and elevates dignity," Yuhan CEO Cho Wook-je said. "The journey of 'Great Yuhan, Global Yuhan,' contributing to human health by leaping forward as a global innovative pharmaceutical company, has begun again. We will add 100 years of promise on top of 100 years of trust."
Founded in 1926, Yuhan has grown into a pharmaceutical company representing Korea. Carrying on the founding spirit of "making the best products to help the nation and fellow countrymen" since its establishment, the company has produced excellent drug development results, including the lung cancer treatment Leclaza. In particular, Leclaza became the first Korean-made anticancer drug to receive U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval in 2024, and has established itself as a "blockbuster drug" used as a global standard treatment for lung cancer.
"The spirit of contributing to the health of the nation and humanity with the best medicines created Yuhan's 100 years," a Yuhan official said. "Based on this spirit, we will continue to contribute to human health through new drug development and global cooperation over the next 100 years."
