
INNOSPACE, a private space launch vehicle company, will begin space validation of quantum technology in collaboration with Norma, a domestic quantum computing company.
INNOSPACE said Monday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Norma for cooperation in space and quantum computing technology. INNOSPACE and Norma will use INNOSPACE's space launch vehicle "HANBIT" to validate Norma's quantum processing unit (QPU) in a space environment. The two companies will also pursue cooperation on building a space quantum computing center and on national projects. They plan to finalize details such as the timing of the QPU launch and the method of payload integration through further discussions.
INNOSPACE pursued this collaboration to respond to demand for high-difficulty computation in the space sector, including satellite data processing and mission design. The space quantum computing center is a next-generation space data center concept that processes data generated in space using quantum algorithms and cloud technology, and supports satellite operation optimization. The two companies plan to verify the stability and operational feasibility of the QPU in an actual space environment, then expand cooperation into space data processing and analysis.
"Launch vehicles are expanding their range of use beyond simple satellite transportation to become key infrastructure supporting the verification and commercialization of various new technologies," INNOSPACE CEO Kim Soo-jong said. "We will continue to discover new business opportunities that converge space and advanced technology."
