Kakao (035720.KS) has introduced a "ChatGPT Chatbot" feature that allows users to use ChatGPT while chatting in KakaoTalk chat rooms, the company said Tuesday.
Kakao signed a partnership with OpenAI in February last year and has been integrating ChatGPT into its major services. As a result, the company unveiled "ChatGPT for Kakao," which allows access to ChatGPT within the KakaoTalk app, last October. The newly introduced ChatGPT Chatbot is designed to make ChatGPT easier to use within KakaoTalk chat rooms.
The ChatGPT Chatbot can be accessed by tapping the menu in the upper right corner of a chat room and selecting "Chatbot." Users call up the chatbot by entering the @ symbol in the chat room's input field, then writing the desired prompt (question). Alternatively, users can press the ChatGPT button on the "keyboard toolbar" at the bottom of the input field and then enter a prompt. For example, entering "@ChatGPT tell me today's weather" or "@ChatGPT write a birthday congratulation message" will have ChatGPT provide an answer directly within the chat room. It is also possible to ask the ChatGPT Chatbot to generate images.
"Through the organic integration of KakaoTalk and AI, we will lead the popularization of AI in everyday life," said Yoo Yong-ha, performance leader at Kakao AI Connect.
