SK Telecom said Tuesday that it will open point rewards to non-subscriber customers, allowing anyone who is an Air app member to earn and use points even without signing up for an Air plan. Air is SK Telecom's communication service application dedicated to unlocked phones.
Air features simple and reasonable fifth-generation (5G) plans consisting of just six data tiers, point rewards that can be used to pay bills, and a convenient app environment. Until now, members could earn points through various missions within the app, but point usage was permitted only for Air plan subscribers.
Through this revamp, Air app members who have not signed up for a plan can now use points earned through three advertising-type missions: "Scratch Lottery," "Match Prediction Points," and "Point Mission." The accumulated points can be used at the Point Shop, which carries about 1,000 popular items, including Naver Pay points, convenience store, department store and Olive Young gift certificates, and food and beverage products.
Benefits for Air plan subscribers have also been improved. Points earned through the three advertising-type missions recently added to the Air app can be used additionally for bill payments by Air subscribers, even beyond the existing monthly limit of 5,000 points.
The revamp reflects customer feedback on point usage. It is expected to expand the user base of the Air app. The app's user experience (UX) has also been improved to be more intuitive, allowing users to check available points directly on the first screen.
SK Telecom is holding a special promotion to mark the Air service revamp through the 30th of this month. The "100-won Deal" offers a benefit allowing customers to purchase popular Point Shop items once a week for 100 points if they collect just 100 points through missions. Customers can participate every week until the event ends.
For new Air plan customers, a "10x Additional Earning" promotion is being held, which provides 10 times the earned points as additional rewards when completing three new missions after signing up: "Scratch Lottery," "Match Prediction Points," and "Point Mission."
