Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang urged Korea's large conglomerates to "invest for the country's next generation" at a gathering of domestic conglomerates and startups Monday.
Huang made the remarks while attending the "Korea AI Ecosystem Reception" held at the guest house of the Shilla Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on Monday afternoon. Naming SK hynix Chairman Tae-won Choi and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chairman Euisun Chung, Huang said, "I have many wealthy friends," adding, "Wealthy friends should build infrastructure for the next generation and create opportunities for the next generation." The event invited not only startups but also various AI-related startups, and he emphasized the importance of investing in them. Huang added, "The Korean government also wants this."
During the event, Huang stepped out in front of the guest house and met with reporters, where he also addressed the importance of startup support and building an AI ecosystem. "Today's event is a gathering of large conglomerates and emerging startups," he said, assessing that "the future of Korea's startup ecosystem is very bright." He stressed, "The future is created from today's new ideas, and the role of creating the future is in the hands of startups." Huang added, "This event brought together large conglomerates, startups, venture capital (VC), and capital markets," saying, "Binding all of them into one ecosystem is the way to support Korea."
