Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who is visiting Korea, said Monday that "now is 100 percent Korea's time" and that "the country must seize this opportunity."
Huang made the remarks while meeting with reporters in front of the State Guest House at the Shilla Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on Monday afternoon, saying Korea is "in a unique position from the perspective of physical AI and robotics." He added, "All industrial sectors, including manufacturing, heavy industry, information technology (IT), and artificial intelligence (AI), must converge into robotics," and that this was "the reason I came to Korea."
Huang also mentioned what he had told Bae Kyung-hoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT, that day. "I told Deputy Prime Minister Bae that the current new trend fits well with Korea's culture," Huang said. "As AI infrastructure requires massive capital for electricity, the internet, and computing, it is very important for the government to support capital investment to build AI infrastructure," he added.
Huang attended the "Korea AI Reception Day" event held at the Shilla Hotel's State Guest House that day. The event was a closed-door networking gathering held by inviting domestic AI-related companies. Various companies, from large corporations to startups, were invited. Attendees included LG Electronics CEO Ryu Jae-cheol, Samsung SDS CEO Lee Jun-hee, LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-kyun, Elice Group CEO Kim Jae-won, Upstage CEO Kim Sung-hoon, and Realworld CEO Ryu Jung-hee.
