Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who is visiting South Korea, will meet with Bae Kyung-hoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT. The two sides are expected to discuss matters including Nvidia's plan to supply graphics processing units (GPUs).
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT on Wednesday, Bae will meet Huang, who arrived in Korea the same day. The specific schedule for the meeting has not been finalized.
Shortly after entering the country, Huang responded to reporters who asked whether he had a gift for Korea, noting that he had brought GPUs on his last visit. "There is a surprise gift," he said. The industry expects discussions to proceed on the government's plan to secure 260,000 Nvidia GPUs by 2030. During his arrival, Huang remarked, "Korea has excellent expertise in AI and robotics, making it a suitable place for R&D investment." Bae also expressed his desire to showcase domestic AI semiconductor technology, saying at the "K-AI Semiconductor Growth Forum" the previous day, "It would have been nice if Jensen Huang, who is coming to Korea, had attended today's event demonstrating K-AI semiconductors."
Meanwhile, Huang entered the country through the Gimpo Business Aviation Center and visited "T1 Base Camp," operated by the esports team T1. There he met with players including Lee Sang-hyeok. In the evening, he is scheduled to meet with SK Group Chairman Tae-won Choi, LG Group Chairman Kwang-mo Koo, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin at a restaurant near Hongdae.
