Kakao Mobility has begun recruiting participants for the sixth cohort of AI Junior Lab, a corporate social responsibility program designed to support the growth of AI capabilities among future talent.
Kakao Mobility said Tuesday that it is accepting applications for AI Junior Lab through June 7 via the websites of Kakao Mobility and the Children and Future Foundation, as well as through the notice section of the Kakao T app. AI Junior Lab is a future talent development program run by Kakao Mobility in partnership with the Children and Future Foundation, a social welfare corporation. Since its launch in 2023, it has established itself as one of Kakao Mobility's flagship social contribution activities. Starting with this sixth cohort, the program has been renamed from "Junior Lab" to "AI Junior Lab," with the curriculum significantly strengthened around AI.
The program has been upgraded with "Physical AI" — in which digital intelligence autonomously solves real-world problems — as its core curriculum. Participating students will build devices that actually move using sensors, while also designing web and app services that utilize these devices, gaining an integrated understanding of how Physical AI operates through the organic combination of software and hardware.
The scope of recruitment has also been expanded. Eligibility has been broadened to all middle school students nationwide, and the number of participants has been increased from 30 to 50. A certain portion of those selected will come from families of mobility workers, including taxi, designated driver, and quick delivery service workers, continuing the program's spirit of mutual growth.
The sixth AI Junior Lab will be held as a four-day camp from July 29 to August 1 at the Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. All participation costs will be fully covered by Kakao Mobility.
"AI Junior Lab is a venue for expanding the company's vision of becoming a 'Physical AI-based future mobility company' into social value and sharing it with future generations," Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Gung-seon said. "Beyond a simple hands-on event, we will support students in gaining a broader perspective on changing the world through technology, contributing to their dreams of becoming future Physical AI experts."
