The Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM) unveiled 'KAIROS,' a next-generation artificial intelligence humanoid robot, to mark its 50th anniversary.
KIMM held its "50th Anniversary Ceremony" at its headquarters in Daejeon and introduced the next-generation AI humanoid as part of 'K-Moonshot,' a national strategic technology project, the institute said Wednesday.
KAIROS is the flagship brand presenting the research and development direction for future intelligent robots designed to coexist with humans and bring innovation across industry and daily life. Taking the stage with key guests, the robot was spotlighted as a symbol representing both the institute's achievements over the past 50 years and the future of Korean robotics that will lead the next half-century.
KIMM President Ryu Seok-hyun proclaimed 'KIMM-NEXT 50,' a future vision for the next 50 years, under the slogan "A New Journey Toward Intelligent Machine Civilization." The institute presented its vision of "machine technology that creates a prosperous life for humanity and a sustainable Earth," along with five challenge goals, "A Preview of 2050," and five flagship brands.
"If the past 50 years were dedicated to Korea's industrialization, the next 50 years will see KIMM continue to evolve as a leading research institution that pioneers the era of intelligent machine civilization and solves the challenges facing humanity," President Ryu said.
