Krafton (259960.KS) is hosting a $5 million global hybrid casual game competition with Korean game company Neptune.
Krafton announced Thursday that it will hold the "Flik X Krafton Casual Game Challenge Season 1" competition with Neptune. The competition is open to global developers and indie studios, with submissions accepted for approximately one month from April 21 to May 18. Both completed games and prototype-stage projects are eligible for submission.
Final selected developers will be announced in July after a judging process. Selected games will undergo testing and improvement with Flik, Neptune's hybrid casual game publishing brand, before launching globally. Hybrid casual games are a genre that combines growth elements with hyper-casual games, which are characterized by simple controls and quick accessibility. They feature a revenue structure combining in-app advertising (IAA) and in-app purchases (IAP), and have been growing rapidly in the global market.
The competition was launched with the goal of discovering competitive hybrid casual games in the global market and building a sustainable publishing pipeline for both companies. The company believes that combining Krafton's global publishing experience with Neptune's casual game business expertise will produce positive results.
Competition submissions can be made through the official competition website. Through this competition, Krafton plans to discover globally competitive hybrid casual IPs (intellectual property) and strengthen its global publishing capabilities with Neptune.
