Naver Cloud announced on the 16th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) for AI-based education and research innovation and AI talent development.
The agreement aims to apply Naver Cloud's AI infrastructure to educational settings while building a future-oriented smart campus and cultivating AI specialists based on HUFS's educational capabilities.
Naver Cloud will provide GPUs optimized for university research environments based on its AI infrastructure and solutions, and build AI administrative and learning services powered by HyperCLOVA X. The company also plans to introduce multilingual administrative services combining Naver Cloud's AI solutions with HUFS's language expertise, supporting AI adoption in university education and research environments.
The partnership will further pursue the creation of a future-oriented smart campus integrating online and offline elements. Plans include upgrading access and payment systems through facial recognition technology and establishing smart administrative and learning environments based on "Naver Works," an AI collaboration platform.
The two organizations will also cooperate on AI talent development. They plan to link Naver Cloud Academy and Naver Cloud Platform training courses with the university's regular curriculum, while expanding employment connections and joint research through internship opportunities, job fairs, and technical mentoring support.
Kim Yu-won, CEO of Naver Cloud, said, "Through this partnership, we expect to create an innovation ecosystem where AI technology is utilized in actual education and research settings," adding, "We will support HUFS to become a testbed for AI and cloud-based innovation, like Naver's second headquarters building 1784."
Kang Ki-hoon, President of HUFS, stated, "The partnership with Naver Cloud will be an important starting point for jointly creating an AI-based smart campus and future-oriented education and research environment," adding, "We hope this will develop into an exemplary industry-academia cooperation model that creates new value across various fields by combining global knowledge in language, regional studies, and humanities with AI technology."
