Korea's space agency announced the results of its third space verification satellite payload competition on Monday, as the country accelerates efforts to build domestic "space heritage" credentials.
The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) revealed through the Korea Aerospace Research Institute that nine organizations were selected from 24 applicants for the Space Verification Satellite-3 payload program.
The selected participants include Hanbat National University, LG Electronics, Cosmovi, SK Hynix, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Korea University, Daelim, AP Satellite, and Ilchem.
The 15 types of components and devices developed by these organizations will undergo orbital verification aboard a cube satellite platform carried by the sixth Nuri rocket launch, scheduled for 2027.
KASA has been developing a 12U-class cube satellite as a verification platform to help domestic institutions establish space-grade usage records for their products, including electrical and electronic components and semiconductors.
The initiative aims to strengthen technological competitiveness and self-reliance while accelerating Korean companies' entry into the global space market.
"Securing space usage history for domestic space components is the foundation for entering the global market," said Noh Kyung-won, Deputy Administrator of KASA. "We will continue to strengthen support for fostering the aerospace industry."
