Kakao Map is launching indoor map services for major agricultural and fishery markets in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Kakao announced on January 9 that its location-based life platform Kakao Map has opened indoor map services for major agricultural and fishery markets in Seoul and Gyeonggi regions. The indoor maps have been added to approximately 10 major metropolitan markets, including Garak Mall (the retail zone within Garak Market), Gyeongdong Market, Yangnyeongsi Market, Dongseo and Cheongwamul Market in Seoul, and Guri Agricultural and Fishery Market in Gyeonggi Province.

The update aims to help holiday shoppers navigate complex market interiors and quickly locate desired shops and amenities. Users can view detailed floor-by-floor information by searching for the markets on the Kakao Map mobile app. The app displays actual floor plans showing individual store locations and amenities including elevators, escalators, and restrooms.

Tapping on store icons reveals detailed information, photos, and customer reviews. Kakao plans to add Road View photos capturing the interior of markets to further assist navigation.

"We updated the indoor maps ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday so market visitors can shop more conveniently," said Bang Kyung-hwa, Leader of Kakao's Map Data Platform Tribe. "We plan to continue introducing indoor maps to various cultural spaces including shopping malls, markets, exhibitions, and performance venues."

Kakao Map currently provides indoor map services for approximately 60 traditional and agricultural/fishery markets nationwide, including Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market, Mangwon Market, and Sokcho Tourism Fisheries Market.
