Korea Investment & Securities signed a memorandum of understanding with cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb to provide wealth management services, the brokerage said Wednesday.
The partnership is expected to accelerate efforts to bring high-net-worth cryptocurrency holders into Korea Investment & Securities' wealth management client base.
The signing ceremony was held Thursday at the company's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, with key executives from both companies in attendance. Bithumb, established in 2014, is one of Korea's leading cryptocurrency exchanges with a substantial base of high-net-worth investors.
Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate across multiple areas to strengthen customized wealth management services. They plan to provide asset management insights through regular conferences and expand service offerings by cross-utilizing content accumulated in their respective fields of securities and digital assets.
Korea Investment & Securities has previously hosted two wealth management conferences for Bithumb clients, led by its Global Wealth Management (GWM) division dedicated to ultra-high-net-worth individuals. The events attracted significant interest from wealthy clients by introducing various solutions including tax and real estate consulting, asset succession strategies using family corporations, and art investment.
"Through our partnership with Bithumb, we expect to provide customers with a broad range of digital asset management services," CEO Kim Sung-hwan said. "We plan to continuously expand areas of collaboration between the two companies."
