Woori Bank announced Wednesday that it has opened five additional "Woori Senior IT Happiness Learning Centers" this year, expanding its network of digital and IT education facilities designed to bridge the digital divide for elderly citizens and enhance their digital capabilities. The total number of learning centers now stands at 16.
The newly established centers are located in five areas: Yongsan, Yeongdeungpo and Seodaemun in Seoul, and Namyangju and Uijeongbu in Gyeonggi Province. Woori Bank said it secured learning and experience spaces near welfare facilities and residential areas frequently used by seniors, improving accessibility and convenience for digital education participation.
The Happiness Learning Centers are senior-focused digital education spaces operated jointly by Woori Bank and the Comprehensive Support Center for Elderly Living Alone. The program aims to help seniors adapt to digital environments in daily life and acquire necessary skills.
The facilities feature hands-on, experience-based learning spaces where participants can directly touch and operate digital devices. The centers are divided into a "Smart Lounge," where visitors can freely experience AI speakers, kiosks and smart tables, and a "Smart Learning Center," where systematic education takes place.
Last month, Woori Bank selected 33 outstanding participants from among seniors who had used the existing Happiness Learning Centers and provided customized AI education and a Seoul city tour program at the Senior Plus Center in Myeong-dong, Seoul.
"We hope seniors can reduce inconveniences in digital life and use necessary services more easily and safely through the Happiness Learning Centers," a Woori Bank official said. "We will continue our efforts to create a better world through finance."
