Douzone Bizon (012510.KS) announced Thursday that it received the Best Paper Award at the inaugural academic conference of the Korea AI Service Society held at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Seoul on January 11.
The winning paper, titled "Development of Node-centric Omnidirectional Versatile Agent (NOVA) for Tax Law Knowledge Graph Navigation," was authored by the Douzone AI Research Institute.
The Korea AI Service Society was established with the goal of commercializing AI technology and applying it to industry. At the inaugural conference, one best paper and two excellent papers were selected through rigorous evaluation focused on the innovation and practicality of AI technology. Douzone Bizon demonstrated Korea's highest level of AI technology by winning the Best Paper Award.
The paper presents research on NOVA, a core component of the Tax Law Assistant, a legal-specialized AI agent developed by the Douzone AI Research Institute. NOVA is an AI agent that structures complex tax law into machine-readable knowledge graphs to comprehensively collect relevant statutes in response to queries. The AI operates like a navigation system to find accurate results.
NOVA's key feature is its ability to structure and analyze the vast provisions spanning tax laws such as the Income Tax Act, enforcement decrees, and enforcement rules, along with related rulings and precedents, as an interconnected network to select the most accurate reference materials. The technology was recognized for overcoming limitations of existing AI search technology (RAG), which relies on simple keyword matching and fails to recognize vocabulary differences and relationships.
In performance verification tests, NOVA scored 86.2 points on tax law questions from past certified tax accountant examinations. Analysis of 100 actual consultation cases from the National Tax Service's Hometax system showed a 2.6-fold higher accuracy rate in finding relevant statutes compared to existing technology, demonstrating practical applicability. The improved accuracy in legal search addresses the risk that missing essential provisions could distort the legal interpretation of answers.
