Lotte Innovate announced Wednesday that it has developed an Android-based cloud point-of-sale (POS) system and will deploy it in Korea's convenience store industry for the first time.
Unlike the Windows-based POS systems commonly used in Korean convenience stores, Lotte Innovate's cloud POS was developed on the Android operating system. The system provides a user experience as convenient as using a smartphone or tablet PC, enhancing accessibility for convenience store owners. The system was also designed to leverage the characteristics of the Android operating system, enabling easy use of various business applications beyond basic POS functions.
Lotte Innovate explained that the newly developed cloud-based POS offers superior data security and easier system updates and maintenance. Compared to existing POS systems, the introduction of a detachable tablet PC-type terminal has reduced the device's weight. User-friendly features such as customizable menus that allow users to set frequently used functions and a dark mode that reduces eye strain at night have also been applied.
Lotte Innovate plans to introduce the Android cloud POS system at new 7-Eleven stores starting this year and expand deployment to all 7-Eleven stores nationwide in the future.
