The Animation X Game Festival (AGF), Korea's largest comprehensive animation and gaming event featuring major game publishers including Nexon, NCsoft (036570.KS), Netmarble (251270.KS), Smilegate, Neowiz (095660.KS), and NHN (181710.KS), runs from Friday through Sunday.
AGF is being held at Kintex Exhibition Hall 1 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from Friday to Sunday, according to industry sources.
AGF is Korea's largest subculture festival showcasing content related to animation, games, comics, light novels, and anime songs. The event features various programs including cosplay shows, concerts, photo zones, themed cafes, voice actor talk shows, and merchandise sales. DJ Kazu's anime song DJ sets are also considered a signature AGF program. In 2019, footage of attendees dancing to music in front of the on-site luggage storage area went viral. Last year's AGF drew 72,081 visitors over two days, setting an all-time record. This represented a 10% increase from the previous year.
Smilegate, serving as the main sponsor, will showcase its flagship title "Epic Seven" and "Mirrorlight: Unseen Future," an upcoming game being developed by Control Nine. "Mirrorlight" was exhibited at Tokyo Game Show (TGS) in September alongside "Chaos Zero Nightmare." It will be playable by the general public in Korea for the first time at this year's event.
Nexon will present a booth for "Mabinogi Mobile," a popular title released this year that won the Grand Prize at the Korea Game Awards. NCsoft will set up a booth centered on "Limit Zero Breakers," a new game being developed by Big Game Studio targeting release in the first half of next year. Netmarble is participating in AGF to celebrate the 8th anniversary of "Fate/Grand Order," a steady-selling mobile game launched in 2017. Neowiz will operate a dedicated booth featuring "Brown Dust 2," a popular title celebrating its 2.5th anniversary. NHN will showcase "Abyss Dia," a collectible role-playing game (RPG) first launched in Japan in August this year. "Goddess of Victory: Nikke," developed by Shift Up, will be exhibited through publisher Level Infinite.
Small and mid-sized game companies are also participating in AGF. Able Games, a Korean developer that collaborated with Nexon on "Raising Maple," will debut its upcoming title "Crescent" for the first time. Clover Games will exhibit "Heaven Hells," and Studio Beside will showcase its new subculture title "Star Savior."
AGF is co-hosted by Aniplus, Daewon Media, Sony Music Solutions, and D&C Media. Major domestic and international brands including Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) Galaxy Store, Arknights: Endfield, Studio Beside, and Megabox are participating as sponsors to enhance the festival's quality. Galaxy Store is participating in AGF for the first time this year.
