Son Heung-min (34, LAFC) scored in his third consecutive Major League Soccer (MLS) match, leading his team to a fourth straight victory.
On the 25th (local time), Son netted the opening winning goal in the fifth minute of the first half in a 2026 MLS regular-season Round 18 home match against Sporting Kansas City at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
It was his third MLS goal of the season. After struggling to score in the regular season since the MLS season opener in February, Son recorded his first goal in the match against LA Galaxy on the 18th of this month—his first game following the 2026 CONCACAF World Cup break—and went on to score in three straight matches through the game against Real Salt Lake on the 23rd and this day.
This marks the first time in about 10 months that Son has scored in three or more consecutive MLS matches, since his four-game scoring streak last September. Including his two goals in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, his total goals across all official matches this season rose to five.
Behind performances from Son and Denis Bouanga, who tallied two goals and one assist, LAFC overpowered Kansas City 4-0, extending their league winning streak to four and accumulating 33 points to rise to second place in the Western Conference.
Starting up front and combining with Bouanga and David Martinez in attack, Son opened the scoring just five minutes into the match against Kansas City, the bottom-placed team in the Western Conference (14 points). On a counterattack, a pass threaded by Timothy Tillman fell to Son as an opposing player attempted a tackle, and Son used his speed to shake off the defense before shaking the net with a right-footed shot.
