
Woori Financial Capital won the first round of the Professional Billiards Association (PBA) Team League, becoming the first team to secure a berth in the postseason (PS).
Woori Financial Capital defeated Harim by a set score of 4-0 on the 13th, on the final day of the first round of the Welcome Savings Bank PBA Team League Gwangmyeong City Tour 2026-2027, held at Gwangmyeong Citizens' Gymnasium in Gyeonggi Province.
Both teams posted identical records of seven wins and two losses, but their fortunes diverged on points. Woori Financial Capital accumulated 20 points to dramatically edge out Harim (18 points) and claim the top spot in the first round.
In the PBA Team League, when a match goes to a full set (4-3), the winning and losing teams split the points 2 and 1, respectively, while in all other cases the winning team receives 3 points.
With this victory, Woori Financial Capital secured a postseason berth along with the 10 million won round championship prize newly established for this season.
In the first set men's doubles, Woori Financial Capital's Kang Min-koo and Eom Sang-pil overcame the pair of Nguyen Phuong Linh and Tran Duc Minh (both Vietnam), coming from behind to win 11-9 and seize the initiative. In the second set women's doubles, the pair of Sruong Pheavy (Cambodia) and Jang Ga-yeon won 9-3, and in the third set men's singles, David Zapata (Spain) beat Kim Jun-tae 15-2. In the fourth set mixed doubles, the pair of Lee Sang-dae and Kim Min-young cruised to a 9-2 win, effectively wrapping up what amounted to the final.
The first-round Most Valuable Player (MVP) went to Kang Min-koo, who starred during the tournament with 12 wins and 3 losses (7 wins and 1 loss in singles, 5 wins and 2 losses in doubles) and an average of 1.620.
The PBA Tour will hold the third individual event of the 2026-2027 season at the PBA Stadium in KINTEX, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from the 26th through the 3rd of next month. The second round of the Team League opens on the 12th of next month.
