The Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) will select coaches to participate in its 2026 overseas training program, aimed at improving coaching skills and strengthening the capabilities of Korean coaches.
Applicants must meet three requirements: at least three seasons of experience as a player or coach at a professional club, a recommendation from that club, and a Level 2 or higher professional sports instructor certification. Preference will be given to holders of a Coach Level 1 certification or higher from the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and to those proficient in foreign languages (English or Japanese). The application period runs from the 9th to 3 p.m. on the 23rd.
Selected coaches will be dispatched to one club each in the men's and women's divisions of Japan's SV.LEAGUE. The training period, previously six months, has been extended to eight to nine months starting this season so that coaches can spend a full season with their teams. The program will run from September this year through April or May next year.
The federation will cover round-trip airfare, lodging and local living expenses. Applicants who pass the document screening will be notified individually on the 24th of this month, and final selections will be made following a presentation interview. KOVO has run the overseas coach training program since 2024. It dispatches Korean coaches abroad each year, focusing on improving coaching skills through international exchange. In the first year, Kwon Jun-hyung (a former OK Savings Bank player) and Choi Seok-ki (a former Woori Card player) were dispatched to the NEC Red Rockets and the Hokkaido Yellow Stars, respectively. Last year, Nam Eun-bin (a former Heungkuk Life player) gained valuable experience at Toray Arrows Shiga in the SV.LEAGUE women's division.
