The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee announced on the 9th that its chairman, Yoo Seung-min, has been awarded the Medal of Friendship in the name of the President of Mongolia.
The Medal of Friendship is conferred by the President of Mongolia on foreigners who have made long-term contributions in specific fields to Mongolia's development. It is one of Mongolia's highest honors awarded to foreign nationals.
The award recognizes the committee's contributions to developing Mongolia's sports and strengthening its athletic capabilities through sports Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects.
Yoo was recommended by the Mongolian Sports Council and selected as the final recipient after a review by the Mongolian government.
Since 2013, the committee has actively pursued sports ODA projects targeting Mongolia, including training for sports instructors and invitational training programs.
"This medal is a very meaningful award that recognizes Korean sports and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee's efforts in international sports cooperation," Yoo said. "We will continue to contribute to the development of international sports and the promotion of friendship through sports ODA projects."
