Padraig Harrington of Ireland has claimed the U.S. Senior Open title. He tied the tournament's record for most career wins and successfully defended his title for the fourth time in the event's history.
Harrington shot a 4-under-par 66 in the final fourth round of the tournament held Saturday at Scioto Country Club (par 70) in Columbus, Ohio. Finishing at 12-under-par 268, Harrington won the title comfortably, holding off runner-up Stewart Cink (United States, 8-under-par) by four strokes.
Harrington is a player who won two consecutive Open Championships in 2007 and 2008 and recorded six career victories on the PGA Tour, including three major titles. He posted 15 wins on the DP World Tour. In 2024, he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
This marks the third time Harrington has won the U.S. Senior Open, following his victories in 2022 and 2025. It ties Miller Barber's record for the most Senior Open wins. His successful title defense was the fourth in the event's history, after Barber (1984-1985), Gary Player (1987-1988) and Allen Doyle (2005-2006).
With this victory, Harrington secured a spot in next year's U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. After the win, Harrington said, "It feels really good. There was a bit of a gap, but I tried to focus on my game. I was able to win thanks to my good putting throughout the week."
Cink, who was chasing a third consecutive major title following his wins at the Senior PGA Championship and the Regions Tradition, had to settle for runner-up.
Yang Yong-eun finished at even par, tied for 17th. Wi Chang-soo, who had raised expectations by sharing the lead on the first day, finished at 1-over-par, tied for 20th, and Choi Kyung-ju finished at 5-over-par, tied for 38th.
