Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants took consolation in his 20th double of the season after missing out on an All-Star Game selection.
Lee started as the No. 5 hitter and center fielder in San Francisco's road game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, on Saturday, going 1-for-5 with one RBI and one run in the 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) contest. His season batting average dipped slightly to .317.
In the top of the first inning with the game scoreless, bases loaded and one out, Lee grounded to the second baseman in his first at-bat. The lead runner was out at second, but Lee, sprinting at full speed, was ruled safe at first, allowing the runner on third to score. San Francisco piled up four runs in the first inning alone, sparked by consecutive RBI doubles from Willy Adames and Bryce Eldridge.
After being retired on infield grounders in the third and fourth innings, Lee got a hit in the top of the sixth. With two outs and a runner on first, he launched a double to center field. It was Lee's 20th double of the season.
San Francisco allowed Colorado to close the gap on a three-run homer by Cole Carrigg, but combined a strong six-inning, three-run outing from starter Robbie Ray with Eldridge's solo home run in the third to win 6-4.
Meanwhile, the MLB commissioner's office officially announced the starters, reserves, and pitchers for both leagues' All-Star Game that day. Lee, who had drawn attention in this season's batting title race, failed to make either the National League (NL) outfielder group or the manager's selection list, pushing his All-Star Game appearance to a future opportunity. Superstar Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers earned the honor of receiving the most fan votes across both leagues and will make his sixth career All-Star Game appearance.
