Yoo Hae-ran captured the KPMG Women's PGA Championship (total purse $13 million) on the LPGA Tour, claiming her first career major title.
Yoo shot a 2-under 70 with five birdies and three bogeys in the final round of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship held at Hazeltine National Golf Club (par 72) in Chaska, Minnesota, on June 29 (Korea time).
Finishing at 13-under 275, Yoo topped the leaderboard and earned the winner's prize of $1.95 million (about 2.99 billion won).
Yoo, who had come close to her first win of the season with a runner-up finish at the Kroger Queen City Championship last month, finally secured her first victory of the season at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, a major event, for her fourth career win.
This marks the first major title for Yoo, who was the 2023 LPGA Rookie of the Year. It is also the first time in two years that a Korean player has won this event, following Amy Yang in 2024.
The tournament is also well known as fertile ground for Korean champions. Pak Se-ri won three times (1998, 2002, 2006), while Park In-bee won three years in a row from 2013, followed by Park Sung-hyun (2018), Kim Sei-young (2020), Jeon In-ji (2022), and Amy Yang (2024). Yoo now extends the line of Korean champions.
Yoo is the third Korean player to win on the LPGA Tour this season, following Lee Mi-hyang (one win) and Kim Hyo-joo (two wins). Yoon Yi-na, who finished at 11-under 277, ended the tournament in sole second place behind Yoo.
