Jeong Han-mil savored his first professional victory in his 164th career event.
Jeong shot a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour's Gunsan CC Open (total prize money 1.114 billion won), which concluded Saturday at Gunsan CC (par 72) in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province. He carded one eagle, three birdies and four bogeys. With a total of 17-under 271, Jeong claimed the championship trophy, beating runner-up Kim Sung-hyun, who finished at 13-under, by four strokes. As the only domestic tournament played under a charity prize format, this year's total prize money was finalized at 1.114 billion won as of the end of the third round, making Jeong's winning prize 222.818 million won.
Jeong, who debuted on the regular tour in 2017, finally earned his first victory in his 164th career event.
Jeong also shook off the disappointment of finishing runner-up at this tournament in 2024, when he fell two strokes short of Jang Yu-bin.
Starting the final round as the sole leader with a three-stroke margin, Jeong cut one more stroke through the 14th hole (par 4), widening his lead over second place to four strokes.
The clincher came at the 15th hole (par 4). With 127 yards remaining to the hole, his second shot landed on the green, bounced several times and dropped straight into the cup for an eagle.
Jeong then displayed composed play without dropping a stroke, ultimately securing his first career victory trophy.
Kim Sung-hyun, who had played on the U.S. PGA Tour before joining KPGA Tour events from April this year, mounted a chase until the end but failed to catch Jeong, settling for runner-up.
Kim Tae-hoon, who carded 11-under, finished in sole third place, while amateur Yoo Min-hyuk, who competed in the tournament as an invited player, took sole fourth place at 9-under.
Kim Hong-taek, who was chasing his fourth career victory, finished tied for 10th at 7-under, along with Ahn Ji-min, Brandon Kewalramani (United States) and Jung Sun-il (Canada).
Jang Yu-bin, who had been chasing his third win of the season, carded 6-under to finish tied for 14th.
